Drawing and Painting Portraits

by Robin Huibregtse

Drawing portraits has always been viewed as one of the more difficult subjects, but I truly believe that anyone can do it. I will help you break down the elements of the face into its basic shapes and proportions so you are able to capture an accurate likeness of your subject. We will also explore theories behind mixing colors to create realistic and lifelike tones and shades for skin, hair, eyes, and shadows. You will have a chance to practice drawing a portrait with graphite, colored pencils, and acrylic paint. The goal is to complete at least one portrait in a chosen medium and feel more confident in drawing people’s faces.

last portion of the class is dedicated to a piece of choreography. I will break it down into easy to learn sections that will be fun and exciting to all levels of experience. Coin belts are provided.
